How do I get my baby auditions for Gap, Zara Kids and Target ad campaigns? 

So everyone tells you your baby is so cute and thinks they should be a baby model. Where can you find those auditions and what are the requirements to be a GAP, Target or Zara baby model?

Can your beautiful baby be a model for GAP or Zara Kids?

Baby modeling is a big industry and stores like GAP, Zara, Gymboree, Target, Hannah Anderson etc., are always seeking beautiful babies and child models for their ad campaigns. If your baby has unique features, is very beautiful or just too cute for words, then they might be a candidate. Agents look for interesting eyes, beautiful skin, wild hair, chubby, chubby thighs or those things that make people stop and say "Wow, your child should be a baby model!"

If your child has beautiful eyes, they might be a good candidate for baby modeling.

To be a model for Baby GAP, Zara Kids or a Target you will need to sign with a kids talent agency and have a work permit for your child.

When signing with a child modeling talent agency you will need to secure a child work entertainment permit which is issued by the State Department of Labor.  All baby models, toddler models and child models are required to have a work permit to go on set in the State of California. The next step to get your child or baby started as a model is to set up a a Coogan Bank account. Any bank should be able to set this up for your child or you can set this up with the Actors Federal Credit Union. Here's a link to this bank: Coogan Account Basically a Coogan account is a trust account in which 15% of a child's earnings will be put into an account and goes to the child when they turn 18. 
Baby models will need a Coogan Trust account. 
Getting baby modeling headshots is very helpful if you want your baby to model for Zara Kids, Baby GAP and stores like Target. 

The next step is to get baby modeling headshots. Is this a requirement? Well yes and no. Some agencies will let you send in snap shots, but then once you sign they will want professional baby headshots to submit for those modeling jobs with Baby GAP, Zara Kids and Target castings. And many times parents have come to me to get professional baby modeling headshots because their child wasn't getting noticed by the snapshots that they took. A top child headshot photographer or top baby modeling photographer will know how to show off those beautiful and interesting features. For example a baby with stunning eyes would make a great baby model but, if the photos or babies headshots do't show this, it can damper the babies chance of signing with a baby modeling talent agency. And many baby castings for stores like Zara Kids, Baby GAP or Target will book the baby model from their modeling headshots. I have countless parents who have written letters of thanks to tell me their child booked a great modeling job off their recent kids headshots. And minimally the baby or child will have much more opportunity to get  noticed for those baby modeling castings. So I do recommend you get your baby modeling headshots.

In closing I would like to state that no legitimate baby modeling talent agency will ever ask you to pay them upfront. If a baby modeling talent agency ask you to pay them a fee then run. The baby modeling agencies work on commission only. The only make money when your baby books a modeling job. Yes, you will have to pay for the babies headshots and you will have some fees to post your baby models headshots on the casting sites, but you will NOT pay the baby modeling agency to represent your child.

CHILD MODELING TIPS

 If your child wants to model or act, my first tip is to keep it fun. Just like any activity such as gymnastics, dance, baseball, etc., the activity should be fun and games for the child. Fun doesn't mean irresponsible. I'm just saying that you can keep it fun and not heavy or serious. For example be a bit playful and insouciant about an audition. Laugh and smile and throw in lots of encouragement and positive comments. Make some jokes and be silly. If you're having fun while doing something it usually goes better.  Child modeling should be fun! My next tip for child models is to let them make choices. Sometimes we as parents make all the decisions for our children (with good intent of course). But as a child model photographer in LA, I've observed that letting the child model give input on what they wear or how they pose makes them feel causative.
